Part One

Chapter One

It was a cool September evening in the small college town. The leaves were changing and falling to the ground.
Some upperclassmen decided to throw a party for some of the newcomers.

Sapphire Reed's roommate, Roxie Bloom, was doing her hair while Sapphire was in her room getting dressed.

"So, how long into the semester do you think it'll take you to find a pretty little thing?" Roxie asked her friend, poking her head out of the bathroom door.
"I already have found one." Sapphire replied with a smile.
"Really? Is she into the same stuff you are?" Roxie questioned, walking in.
"I don't know, but I'll find out tonight at the party." Sapphire noted, putting her black cowboy boots on.
"I never did understand lesbians. Frank is too good of a man for me to turn to a woman." Roxie complained with her hand on her hip.

Sapphire just smirked and put on her black, leather jacket.

Walking into the house of Roxie's boyfriend, Frank Jones, Sapphire automatically spotted Dawn Baker, her goddess.

"There she is, Roxie." Sapphire noted, looking over at the beautiful girl on the couch.
"Dawn Turner?" Roxie asked, looking too.
     "Yes." Sapphire replied, smiling.
"Well, have fun. I'll find you when I'm about to leave." Roxie encourages and walked off with Frank.

Dawn was a beautiful girl with long, brown hair and brown eyes; full lips and a smile that would make any person melt. She was sitting on the couch alone until Sapphire approached her.

"Hello, I'm Sapphire. We met at orientation." Sapphire introduced herself with a smile.
"Hello, I'm Dawn." Dawn replied, smiling back.
"So, why aren't you hanging on any of these guys here?" Sapphire questioned, sitting down.
     "Oh, I'm not into guys."
     "Really? That's interesting."
"Sorry, I'm just proud of who I am."
"No need to be sorry, I know how you feel...I'm the same way."

The girls sat there and talked a while, and then Roxie came over.

"I'm going to stay the night here, so you can go whenever you want." Roxie noted with a smile.

When she walked off, Dawn looked over at Sapphire with a puzzled look on her face.

"Roommate, not girlfriend." Sapphire explained almost reading Dawn's thoughts.

Dawn just smiled and looked around...the party was dying down and a lot of people were just sitting around talking.

"Do you stay in the dorm?" Sapphire asked, standing up.
"Oh, yea. I do." Dawn replied with a smile.
"Mind if I walk you there? My apartment isn't far from there."
     "I would like that."

Sapphire walked Dawn to the elevator of the dorm, not wanting to go up with her this soon.
"Can we hangout sometime?" Sapphire questioned with a smile.
     "I would really like that."
     "Can I get your number?"
"Sure. I think I have a pen here somewhere." Dawn noted, looking in her purse.

Sapphire pulled one from her pocket, handed it to her and stuck out her hand, palm up, so Dawn could write down her number.

"I'll see you later." Dawn said with a smile and got into the elevator.
     "Okay, I'll call you."

Walking out of the dorm, Sapphire looked at the number on her hand, smiled and walked back to her apartment.

When Dawn finally got into her room, she sat on her bed and called her friend, Claudia Simpson, on the floor above her.
"Hey, girl. How was the party?" Claudia questioned, excited Dawn called.
     "It was pretty good."
     "Did you meet anyone interesting?"
"Well, there was this one girl."
     "Oh, so, good or bad?"
"Good, I think. I gave her my number."
"I hope it goes good for you."

The two girls talked a while, and then Dawn decided to get some sleep for class the next day.

Chapter Two

Sapphire was sitting on the edge of her full-sized bed, brushing her long, reddish brown hair, humming.
The ray of sun coming through the window fell on the floor on the other side of the room as Roxie walked in with a smile.

"What are you smiling about?" Sapphire asked, looking up at her friend.
"I saw you leave with Dawn last night."
"I walked her to the dorm and came back here."
"Are you going to see her again?"
"I'm not sure about anything yet." Sapphire replied, standing up, putting her brush on the dresser and pulling the curtain more shut.

It felt strange not to tell Roxie about Dawn, Sapphire always told her almost everything about what was going on. Dawn was different, though. Talking about her would break the spell. She wanted what she did with Dawn to remain secret for a while. That way she could keep her for herself. Already she wanted Dawn to belong only to her.

Debating on calling Dawn, Sapphire wriggled into her jeans and grabbed her college hoodie. Knotting her hair into a low ponytail and stepped into her cowboy boots, she kept glancing at the phone.

"Just call her already." Roxie exclaimed, standing at the door.
"I wasn't thinking about that." Sapphire said, grabbing her messenger bag.
"Okay, whatever. Are you going to class?" Roxie asked, looking at the bag.
"Oh, I have about twenty minutes. I'm going to go get some coffee and head that way."
The morning fog blanketed the world as Sapphire walked across the grounds with her coffee in one hand and her cell phone in the other.
"I should have asked her if she had a cell phone." Sapphire said to herself, looking at Dawn's dorm room number on her contact list.

Sapphire just shook her head and made her way into the building for her class. She only went on test days because she did her work and e-mailed it to the professors. It was a lot easier and less bright outside to do it that way.

When Sapphire was finished her test, she laid it on the professor's desk and walked out.
Stopping at the fountain, she looked at Dawn's number again while finishing her coffee.

As she pushed the call button, her head filled up with worry.

"Hello." The female voice answered on the other end.
"May I speak to Dawn, please?" Sapphire questioned nicely.
"This is she." Dawn said, wondering who the caller was.
"It's Sapphire. I just got out of class and wondered if you would like to join me for coffee."
     "I would love to."
"Great, I'll meet you in front of the dorm in ten minutes." Sapphire informed and, after they said their goodbyes, hung up the phone.

Standing outside with the cool morning breeze through her long, layered brown hair, Dawn pulled her black jacket tighter as she waited for Sapphire to arrive.

Sapphire seen Dawn waiting for her and walked up to her.

"If you're cold, we can take my car instead of walking to the coffee shop." Sapphire noted, adjusting her bag.
"No, I'm fine." Dawn replied with a smile.

They started walking toward the coffee shop, taking the shortcut everyone else did and didn't say a word to each other until they ordered their drinks.

"So, how do you like college so far?" Sapphire asked, taking a seat in one of the big red chairs in the back where the computers were.
"Oh, it's okay. Not really what I expected." Dawn replied, taking a seat across from Sapphire.
"Oh, it will get better. I felt the same way."
"How long have you been here?"
     "This is my third year."

The girls sat and talked a while. Laughing and getting to know one another.

"What time do you have class today?" Sapphire asked, looking at her watch.
"Oh, don't worry, I only have one class on Fridays and already went."
"I only go on test days myself. I do the work and e-mail it to them, but I wouldn't recommend it until next semester for you since you're new here. Get to know your professors and your way around first."

Dawn just smiled and nodded her head.

There was a connection between the two girls....they both knew it.

Chapter Three

"Did you tell Dawn your secret, yet?" Roxie asked Sapphire.
"No, I haven't. I don't want to scare her off." Sapphire replied, sitting down on the couch.
"It's been two weeks. Don't you think she realized you only go out when the sun isn't out and when you do, you have a lot of cover on?"
"She probably has, but she also knows I have fare skin."

Before Roxie could say anything else, Sapphire's phone beeped. Dawn texted her and wanted to come over for the first time.

"I'll go to Frank's if you want."
"It's not like we're dating, Roxie."
"I know, but I didn't want to intrude."
"You can if you want, but there is no need to."

Roxie left not too long before Dawn arrived.

When the doorbell rang, Sapphire was doing some work, so she just told Dawn to come in.

     "Hi." Dawn said, walking in.
"Hey, I was just finishing some school work before I started doing anything else." Sapphire noted, shutting her laptop.
     "Oh, did I disturb you?"
     "No. I'm done."

Dawn lowered her head, but kept her eyes fixed on Sapphire. There was something sexy about that move, though Sapphire wasn't sure Dawn meant it that way.

"Is there something on your mind?" Sapphire questioned, sitting back on the couch
"Kind of, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions." Dawn said, keeping her distance.
     "What is it?"
"Well, we've been seeing a lot of each other and I was wondering if there may be, sometime in the future, a chance you and I would be together."
"There are a lot of things we don't know about each other. So, maybe. But I really want to take things slow. I really hope you understand that."
"Yes, I understand." Dawn replied with a kind of disappointed look on her face.
"There is something I want to tell you about myself, but I want to wait for the right time to tell you. It's too strange to tell you now seeing that we don't know each other well enough." Sapphire explained, touching Dawn's hand.

Dawn just smiled and took Sapphire's hand into hers.

The girls went into Sapphire's room and sat on the bed to talk more about themselves.

"It's getting late; did you want to get something to eat before I go back to the dorm?" Dawn questioned, standing up.
"No, I'm not that hungry, but I'll see you tomorrow after class." Sapphire replied with a slight smile.

Sapphire showed Dawn to the door and texted Roxie to tell her that Dawn left.

"So, how was it?" Roxie asked, walking through the door.
"I told her that I had something to tell her, but I didn't want to right this moment because she and I didn't know each other well enough." Sapphire replied, looking in the fridge.
"How did she take that?" Roxie questioned, sitting down at the kitchen table to talk.
"She took it pretty well." Sapphire said, closing the door of the fridge.
"Well, that's good. You know I was a little freaked out when you told me that you were a vampire." Roxie reminded, looking at the red filled jar in her friend's hand.
"I know you were and it took a long time for you to get used to it." Sapphire stated with a chuckle.
"When you explained what happened and told me that you don't kill anyone, I was fine." Roxie replied, kicking off her shoes under the table.
"Yea I know. Talking about that, I need to go to the blood bank again soon." Sapphire informed, opening the jar and taking a drink.
"You are disgusting." Roxie said with her nose turned up.
"Well, I have to eat." Sapphire noted, wiping her lip off.
"I know, but it still grosses me out." Roxie replied, turning her head.

Chapter Four

It was yet another two weeks that Sapphire and Dawn were hanging out when Sapphire decided to actually take Dawn out on a date.

"I was thinking that we could go on an actual date tonight." Sapphire said, lying on her bed on the phone.
"That would be great. What did you have in mind?" Dawn asked with a smile, waiting for this night to come.
"I was thinking about going to the coffee shop and then taking a walk."
"That sounds good to me. I'm just glad it's Friday night."
"Yea, I know. I hate how dead this town is when everyone goes home for the weekends."

They talked for a little while longer, and then Sapphire started getting ready to go on the date.

"I'm glad you decided to take Dawn out on an actual date tonight." Roxie said with a smile, leaning on the bedroom door frame.
"Yea, me too. I just wish that I knew why I was so nervous. I hang out with her almost every day." Sapphire noted, pulling her hair up.
"This time is the awkward goodnight kiss."
"That is like every night this week."
     "You want to kiss her?"
     "Yea I do."
     "That is so sweet."
     "Yea, yea. Blah, blah."
"I'm serious. I'm glad you found someone you really like."
"Yea and I'm going to be crushed if she doesn't accept what I am."
"It's going to be harder on you the longer you wait to tell her."
"I know. I hate that, too."

When Sapphire stood outside the dorm, waiting for Dawn to come out, her cell phone rang. It was Dawn telling her that she would be a couple more minutes.

Sapphire sat down at the picnic tables, looking at the empty town. There was nothing much going on when most of the students were gone for the weekend. She loved it, and yet, didn't at the same time. She liked being surrounded by people at night even though she didn't really blend in. They didn't know what she was and those who did, didn't mind at all.

Breaking her trance, Dawn placed a hand on Sapphire's shoulder.

"I'm sorry if I scared you." Dawn apologized, stepping back.
"No, just taking in the quiet of the night." Sapphire replied with a smile.
"Yea, I like it." Dawn said, smiling back.

After the coffee shop, Sapphire took Dawn for a walk in the small town. It was too late and too dark to see much, but they liked the wind rustling through the trees and the scent of pines.

Breathing in and out, they stopped in front of Sapphire's apartment.

"Would you like to come in?" Sapphire asked, walking up the sidewalk to the door.
"Is Roxie home?" Dawn questioned, looking at the door.
"No, she went to Frank's for the weekend." Sapphire replied, taking Dawn's hand.
"Okay then, sure." Dawn said with a smile.

They sat on the couch and watched TV with Dawn's head on Sapphire's shoulder.

"Where is the bathroom?" Dawn asked, sitting up.
"You can use mine while I change." Sapphire replied, standing up and leading Dawn to the bathroom in her room.

After changing, Sapphire told Dawn she could come out when she was ready.

"There's something else you're not telling me. I can feel it." Dawn said, walking into the room.

Wondering if Dawn had seen something in there, Sapphire walked up to her and put her hands on Dawn's hips.

"I can't believe how badly I want you." Sapphire whispered, brushing her mouth against Dawn's.

Dawn placed her hands around Sapphire's shoulders and kissed her.

Sapphire stopped worrying about being a vampire for a moment and just thought about Dawn and how close she was, the sweet scent of her skin, the way they breathed together as they kissed.

Sapphire slipped her fingers into Dawn's belt loops and used them to pull her nearer and lead her to the bed, sinking down on it so they were sitting on the bed.
Dawn closed her eyes and slowly took off her jacket, exposing her throat. Sapphire was trying hard to stay in control of the vampire inside her, so she just kissed Dawn's lips as she pushed her shirt up her back, all the way, and lifted it off.

Kissing harder, Sapphire lied Dawn down on the bed, then made her way down to her neck. The sweet smell and the warmness of her skin made Sapphire want her more.

"I can't do this tonight." Sapphire informed, breathing hard.

Dawn just kissed her again and laid her down on the bed. Her thighs around Sapphire's. The cool square of her belt buckle against Dawn's stomach.

"I really can't do this tonight, Dawn, but I promise we can in the future.” Sapphire said, sitting up.

The hunger was intense inside of Sapphire and she wanted to stop before she hurt Dawn.

Sapphire kissed Dawn on the cheek and handed her shirt to her.

"I want to be with you." Dawn whispered as she took her shirt out of Sapphire's hand.

Chapter Five

Sapphire was sitting on her bed, thinking about the night before when she heard a light knock on her door.

"May I come in?" Roxie questioned, poking her head in.
"Yea, come on in." Sapphire said with a sigh.
"Well I was going to ask you how last night went, but by the looks of it, not so good." Roxie noted, sitting on the chair.
"It was great until we came into the bedroom."

Roxie just sat there, waiting to listen because she knew that was what Sapphire needed right now...a friend.

"Well, I'll try not to go into much detail; but she and I started kissing, I took off her shirt and..." Sapphire stopped there.
"And the vampire urges took over." Roxie finished Sapphire's sentence.
"Yes. I stopped myself before I could hurt her."
"Did you tell her why?" .
"No, I just told her we couldn't. I really want to tell her."
     "Then tell her."
"I'm going to have to. I don't want last night to ruin anything. But, then again, if I do tell her, she may not want to see me again."
"Yes, but then you wouldn't feel guilty about last night. And if she likes you like she says she does, then it wouldn't matter if you are a vampire or not."

Roxie walked out and left the door ajar; then Sapphire picked up the phone to call Dawn.

"Dawn, I know you might not want to talk to me, but I really want to explain about last night. So, when you get this, call me, please." Sapphire left on Dawn's cell phone voice mail.

Sapphire's cell phone beeped with a text message...it was Dawn telling her that she would come over after lunch with her friend, Claudia.

"Dawn's coming over after she has lunch with one of her friends." Sapphire told Roxie.
"Well, I was about to go back over to Frank's. I just wanted to come over and see how last night went." Roxie noted with a smile.
"Can you stay until she comes over?" Sapphire questioned, almost pleading.
"Yea, I'll stay." Roxie replied, turning back around from the door.

When Dawn arrived, Sapphire was in the bedroom changing.

"I know it's none of my business, but I'm Sapphire's best friend and I thought I would let you know that she hasn't been this happy with someone for a long time. I think she may even love you." Roxie noted as Dawn was waiting for Sapphire.

Dawn just nodded with a slight smile, and then the bedroom door came open.

     "Hey, Dawn." Sapphire said, quietly.

The two girls sat down on the couch after Roxie left.

"I'm really sorry about last night." Sapphire apologized, touching Dawn's hand.
"I just wanted to be with you...I still do." Dawn informed with a little sigh.
"Let me explain something to you. Do you remember when I told you I had something about me I wanted to wait to tell you?"
     "Yes, I do."
"It may come as a shock, but I really want you to know, but before I tell you, I want you to know something else."

Dawn's eyes never left Sapphire and Sapphire knew she had to do this.

"I'm in love with you. I know it's only been a few weeks, but I love you more than anyone I've ever been with. And that's why this is going to be the hardest thing to tell you because I've kept it away from as many people as I could." Sapphire confessed, waiting for Dawn to say something.

"I love you too, Sapphire, and no matter what you tell me, I will still love you." Dawn said with a smile.

Sapphire smiled back and took a deep breath.

"The thing is...I'm a vampire." Sapphire informed, looking into Dawn's eyes.
"I know." Dawn replied, with a smile.
"What? How did you find out?"
"Well, I thought it was just a rumor, but after getting to know you more, it all fell into place."
     "And it doesn't bother you?"
     "No."

Sapphire kissed her deeply, running her hand up the back of her shirt.

"Can I be with you now?" Dawn questioned, breaking away from the kiss.
"Yes." Sapphire whispered, kissing Dawn once again.
"Wait, I do have a question." Dawn noted, pulling away slowly.
"Go ahead, I've heard them all." Sapphire said with a slight laugh.
"How old are you?" Dawn asked, leaning close to Sapphire.
"I'm not like four-hundred and some if that's what you're thinking. I'm young compared to most vampires, but it's been one-hundred and twelve years since I was turned." Sapphire explained and kissed Dawn's cheek.
"How old were you when you became a vampire? You look so young." Dawn questioned with a smile.
"I was twenty-one." Sapphire replied and then started to deeply kiss Dawn again.

Dawn's mind was racing with more questions, but they could wait. She wanted to be with Sapphire.

Before they went any farther, Sapphire suggested they went to the bedroom.

Lying down on the bed with Dawn's blouse undone, revealing a red lace bra, Sapphire slid her hands inside Dawn's blouse and unhooked her bra. Then slowly slipped the blouse off her shoulders.
Once Dawn's bra was off, Sapphire tossed it aside and admired what she saw. Dawn's breasts were round and full with nipples erect and begging for attention.
Sapphire bent her head to place a nub into her mouth. Her mind filling with all the things she wished to do to her, and this was just the beginning.

Chapter Six

Sapphire and Dawn lied naked; cuddling with each other on the now messed up bed.

"You really are a vampire." Dawn said with a smile.

Sapphire smiled back, her fangs sinking back in as she relaxed, then kissed Dawn on the forehead.

"Would you ever turn someone into a vampire?" Dawn asked, wrapping her fingers around Sapphire's.
"Well, you see, when vampires turn people, they have to stay with that person for the rest of time and I haven't found the right person yet." Sapphire explained, running her hand up the curve of Dawn's body.
"But you were changed." Dawn reminded, looking into her eyes.
"I was attacked and instead of letting me die, he made me into a vampire." Sapphire said, trying hard not to let Dawn see the pain inside.

Sapphire had someone she loved deeply back then and when the girl found out she had been changed, she left her.

"Have you ever considered it?" Dawn questioned almost in a whisper.
"Yes, but as soon as she found out I changed, she left me and I haven't been in love since. Until you came into my life." Sapphire replied and gently kissed Dawn's lips.

Dawn's eyes glistened at the answer Sapphire just given her.

"I know what you're thinking and I'm going to explain it in more detail to you, and then you might change your mind, but until then, I do want to be with you." Sapphire said, sitting up.

The girls dressed and went into the kitchen for something to drink.

"So you can eat and drink human food?" Dawn asked, sitting at the table.
"Yes. Only time I have blood is when I'm drained, but I don't kill. I really haven't bitten anyone since Roxie and she was willing because I was so weak." Sapphire explained, sitting down with her.
"Would you ever bite me?" Dawn questioned, putting her hand on the side of her neck.

"Only if you were willing." Sapphire replied, taking Dawn's hand away from her neck and smiled.

They sat and talked until the sun came up.

"We should get some sleep. Do you want me to walk you back to the dorm?" Sapphire asked, looking outside.
"Can I stay here?" Dawn questioned, standing up.
"Yes." Sapphire replied with a smile and they went to the bedroom to lie down.

Chapter Seven

After a few weeks of dating, Sapphire wanted to make Dawn hers. To be with her for all time, but she didn't want to force it on her.
Not yet bitten Dawn, Sapphire yearned for the sweet taste of it...branding Dawn with her mark. Not out of hunger, but out of passion and love.
Every time they made love, it wasn't quite enough for Sapphire. She wanted more...much more.
She wanted Dawn to experience the bittersweet ecstasy of the bite like she never had a chance to enjoy.

Sapphire sat at the fountain, waiting for Dawn to meet her. Dawn wanted to talk to her about something that night and Sapphire was eager.

When Dawn arrived, she was wearing a white, low v-neck sweater, making Sapphire want her more.
Dawn sat beside Sapphire and gave her a kiss hello.

"What did you want to talk to me about this late out here?" Sapphire asked, placing her hand on Dawn's jean covered thigh.
"I want to experience your bite." Dawn replied, very confident of herself.
"It's very passionate and overwhelming. Are you sure you want to here?" Sapphire questioned, looking around.
"Yes, I want it here." Dawn stated, pulling her hair away from her neck and up into a ponytail.

Sapphire kissed her deeply, sliding her hand down Dawn's body and to her lower back...with the other hand; she cupped the back of Dawn's neck.
Lowering her mouth down to Dawn's neck, Sapphire pulled her closer as her fangs slowly came out.

Dawn gasped when Sapphire sunk her fangs into her skin; not by pain, but by sure pleasure.
Sapphire held her tight as the sweet taste of Dawn's blood ran through her body and over her lips, wanting more of her, but knew when to stop.
Sapphire gasped as she took her mouth away from Dawn, looking into her eyes and kissing her deeply after wiping the blood from her mouth.

Dawn let her take it to the next level and she was very pleased that she did. She loved Sapphire.

Undoing Dawn's jeans, Sapphire slowly slid her hand down to the warmth and wetness, caressing through Dawn's panties. Dawn moaned when Sapphire entered her core with her cold fingers.
Wanting more, Sapphire pulled Dawn's pants down along with her panties and knelt between her legs. Taking Dawn's innocence in her mouth, tasting the sweet fluid almost as sweet as her blood.
When finished, Sapphire let Dawn get dressed and handed her a handkerchief to cover up her neck.

"That was amazing." Dawn complimented, struggling to walk.
"Here, let me help you. I'll take you to my apartment until you get your strength back." Sapphire said, putting her arm around Dawn's waist.

Chapter Eight

"I saw Dawn leaving this morning. I'm guessing last night was good." Roxie noted with a smile.
"I bit her." Sapphire replied, walking into the kitchen for a cup of coffee.

Roxie just looked at her with wide eyes.

"She was willing. And I really do think she's the one I've been waiting for, but I'm not going to get my hopes up." Sapphire said, sitting down at the table.
"You two are so passionate with each other. I would be surprised if you don't make her yours." Roxie stated with a smile.

Looking at the calendar, Sapphire seen that the homecoming dance was that weekend.

"Are you going to the dance?" Sapphire asked, then took a sip of her coffee.
"Yea, I think I can get Frank to take me." Roxie replied with a chuckle.
"I don't know if I'm taking Dawn or not. She hasn't said anything about it."
"Why don't you go get some more sleep? You look so tired."
"I was thinking about it. I stayed up all night making sure Dawn was doing all right." Sapphire noted, standing up and walking toward her bedroom.

When Sapphire opened her eyes from her nap, she saw her beautiful goddess, Dawn, sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for her to wake up.

"Well, hello there." Dawn said with a giggle.
"It looks like you're feeling better." Sapphire noted with a smile.

Sapphire sat up and gently kissed Dawn's lips.

"I came over to ask you about homecoming. I didn't know for sure if you were into that kind of stuff or I would have asked you sooner." Dawn stated, standing up so Sapphire could get out of bed.
"Not really, but I'll go with you if you want to go. I think Frank is having a party afterwards." Sapphire replied, getting out of bed.

The night of the dance, everyone was dressed up in semi-formal clothes except for the rich kids.

"This is nice." Dawn said with a smile.
"Nothing like high school, is it?" Roxie asked, holding on to Frank's arm.

Dawn just smiled and sat down at a table with Sapphire, Claudia, Roxie and Frank.

"I can't believe no one is dancing, yet." Roxie noted, looking around.
"Well, people just come to hang out and see what everyone else is wearing and make sure they look better." Sapphire sneered.
"Well someone took a bitch pill today." Roxie said, looking over at Sapphire.
"Dressing up and dancing in front of people who you don't know or even like then getting judged to become queen or king which is just a popularity contest anyway. I don't even like these things, but Dawn wanted me to come with her, so I came." Sapphire complained, holding Dawn's hand.
When Sapphire was comfortable enough, she asked Dawn to dance.
Holding Dawn close to her body, Sapphire's senses filled with the sweet smell of Dawn's perfume, not wanting this night to end...she wanted Dawn.

Pulling away, Dawn seen Sapphire's fangs as she smiled.

"You are so beautiful." Sapphire complimented, trying to overcome the urge to bite Dawn again.

Dawn just smiled and looked around.

"Can we go somewhere to talk?" Dawn questioned, holding Sapphire's hand.
"Yes. Do you want to go back to my apartment?" Sapphire asked, walking to the table they had sat at before.

Dawn nodded, grabbed her purse and they left.

They reached Sapphire's apartment, but didn't go in. Instead they stood out on the porch.

"I saw your fangs." Dawn noted, sheepishly.
"I'm sorry. I can't control them like I can control biting." Sapphire apologized, thinking how scary it must have been for her.
"It's okay. It was the first time I seen them that close up."
"I just want you to know that I love you and I would never try to hurt you."
"I want it. I want to be with you."
     "You are with me, Dawn."
"I mean, really with you. I want you to make me yours. A vampire."

Sapphire deeply kissed her, showing how much she loved her.

"Not tonight. Let’s wait a little longer." Sapphire suggested and unlocked the door.

     Dawn nodded and walked in.

Chapter Nine

Winter had shown its ugly face by blanketing the ground with snow as Sapphire and Dawn sat sipping hot chocolate in the coffee shop and watching it snow.

"I was thinking...why don't you move in with me? Roxie is almost moved out and I want you close to me." Sapphire noted, looking over at Dawn.
"We'll be leaving school for a few weeks; don't you think we should wait?" Dawn asked with a puzzled look.
"I actually live here. This is my home."
"I'd like to go see my family and I was hoping that you would come with me."
     "I can do that."

Dawn just smiled. She really wanted to move in with Sapphire, but she also wanted to see her family. She was happy that Sapphire agreed to go back home with her.

Sapphire packed her duffle bag as she talked to Roxie.

"Well, I guess I'll see you when you get back from meeting Dawn's family."
"It's going to be weird without you here."
"I'll still be around. I'm not that far away. And I know you want to be with Dawn."
"She and I talked homecoming night about that."
     "Her moving in?"
     "Me making her a vampire."
     "Oh, what did she say?"
"She said she wanted it. She wants to be with me."
     "That's great."
"I'm still kind of worried about it though. I mean, I love her and want to make her mine, but I don't want her to do anything she will regret."
     "I understand that."
"I waited a long time to find someone like her and now that I have her, I'm afraid I'll lose her."
"She loves you. You know that. If she wants to be with you, then let her."
"I don't even know when I would do it."
"What about on the anniversary of when you became one?"
"That's a good idea, but that's not for a while. It won't be until school starts again and I don't think she wants to wait that long."
"It's probably for the best to wait that long seeing that you're afraid."
Sapphire just smiled and zipped up her bag.

"I'm going to miss you." Sapphire noted, placing the bag on the floor.
"It's only for two weeks, but I'll miss you, too." Roxie said, giving Sapphire a hug.

Driving to Dawn's parents' house, Sapphire held Dawn's hand, nervous to tell her parents that their daughter would be moving in with her partner.

"Everything is going to be fine." Dawn soothed with a squeeze of her hand.
"Thanks. I'm going to be fine. I love you and we want to do this."

When they pulled into the driveway, Dawn's parents were waiting on the porch.

"Mom, Dad, this is Sapphire." Dawn introduced with a smile.
"Glad to finally meet the girl who has made our daughter very happy." Dawn's father said with a smile.
"Well, come on in. We're going to have dinner soon." Dawn's mother added, welcoming Sapphire into their home.

After dinner, they all sat down for a cup of coffee and talked a while. Then settled down for the night.

"You're parents are really nice." Sapphire noted with a smile, sitting on the bed.
"I'm glad you like them. I told Mom that I was going to be moving in with you when we go back to school."
     "Oh, what did she say?"
"She thinks it's great for me to find someone who loves me."
"I can't believe they are so supportive of you being a lesbian."
"They used to not be. I had a big fight with them when I first told them, but now everything is good between us."

The girls lied down in the bed, cuddling, and talked until they decided to get some sleep for a full day of being running around and meeting everyone.

Chapter Ten

When they arrived back to school, Sapphire and Roxie helped Dawn move in.

"I can't believe it's almost your birthday." Roxie said, placing a box of Dawn's things into the bedroom.
"Oh, your birthday is soon?" Dawn questioned, looking over at Sapphire.
"Sort of. It's the anniversary of when I became a vampire." Sapphire replied, walking out to the car.
"Can I talk to you, Sapphire?" Roxie asked, following her outside.
     "Yes. Is everything all right?"
"Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to do anything special for your anniversary."
"Not really, but if you want to do something for me you can."

Roxie smiled and walked the last box inside.

"Well, that's it." Sapphire said, sitting on the couch.

The day of Sapphire's anniversary, Dawn made her breakfast in bed and ran a bath for her to relax in.

"You don't have to do this." Sapphire said, walking into the bathroom.
"It's your special day, I want to."

Sapphire just smiled and slowly lowered herself into the white claw-foot bathtub filled with bubbles.

"I'm going to go put some more coffee on while you relax." Dawn said with a smile and walked out, shutting the door behind her.

Sapphire relaxed in the bathtub, thinking about everything she has seen since she was turned into a vampire...President McKinley, the first flight of the Wright brothers, first Model T automobile, the Titanic sinking, and so on.
She was old, she knew it, but didn't feel like it because of the dread of being a living dead creature. Did she really want Dawn to become what she is?

Sapphire closed her eyes and wanted to just die. She didn't want what she has had become and now she had to live with it until someone kills her.

     Dawn walked in and smiled.

"Comfy?" She asked, standing at the doorway.
"Oh, yes, I am." Sapphire replied, opening her eyes and seeing Dawn standing there.
"Well, it's almost time for your party. Maybe you should get out and get dressed."

Sapphire smiled and grabbed her robe.

"Dawn, do you still want to be with me?" Sapphire questioned, looking into her eyes.
"Of course I do, I love you."
"I mean, do you still want to become a vampire?"
     "Yes."

With more thoughts running through her head, Sapphire just smiled and walked into the bedroom to change.

"Why do you ask?" Dawn asked, sitting on the bed.
"I think tonight would be a good night."

Dawn smiled and just nodded her head.

That night at the party, Sapphire pulled Roxie aside to talk to her.

"Tonight is the night." Sapphire stated, closing her bedroom door.
     "What do you mean?"
"I'm going to make Dawn mine."
"I think it's a really good idea. Do you have anything special planned?"
"Yes I do. I'm going to take her to the fountain where we first met and have a moonlight picnic, then bring her back here and do it, making it romantic and sensual."
     "That sounds great."

Sapphire just smiled, thinking it wasn't a great idea, but Roxie made everything better. Knowing that she wants the best for her and Dawn was the one she wanted to be with for the rest of time.
Enjoying the party, Sapphire sat on the couch with Dawn and Roxie, drinking and having a really good time. Trying to let everything just fall into place, but her mind was on later that night.

"Are you okay?" Dawn asked, gently squeezing Sapphire's hand.
"I'm fine, Beautiful." Sapphire replied, coming back to reality and gently kissed Dawn's lips.

After everyone left, Dawn was cleaning up when Sapphire came up behind her and put her arms around her.

"Why don't you just leave this and put your coat on?" Sapphire questioned, sweeping Dawn's hair away from her neck.

Dawn smiled and grabbed her coat as she followed Sapphire out the door.

Laying out the picnic by the fountain, Sapphire motioned Dawn over to join her on the blanket.

"Dawn, I love you so much and if you want to change your mind about everything you can, but I want you to know that you are the one I would love to be with for the rest of time." Sapphire said with a smile.
"I want this more than anything."
"Well, I guess there's just one more question to ask...are you ready?"
     "Here?"
     "No, not here...the apartment."

     Dawn smiled and nodded.

Finishing picking up the picnic, the girls walked hand in hand back to the apartment.

In the bedroom, Sapphire laid Dawn on the bed, exposing her neck by unbuttoning her blouse.

Kissing her deeply, Sapphire cupped Dawn's neck, like she did before, wanting to taste the sweetness of her blood for the last time.
Dawn gasped as Sapphire sank her fangs into her neck, not wanting her to stop, but knew she needed to.

That night, Dawn was turned into a vampire and the girls started their life as a vampire lesbian couple.

Part Two

Chapter One

It was a year after Dawn was turned into a vampire, so Sapphire decided to have a party for her instead of herself because it was more special for Dawn.

“I can’t believe it’s been a year.” Dawn said, pouring herself some coffee.
“Yea, so what do you want to do today before the party tonight?” Sapphire asked, sitting at the table.
“Well, I was hoping that you and I could go out to eat and just spend some time together before classes start Monday.”
“We can do that. I can’t believe that this is my last semester. It doesn’t feel like I’ve been here for four years.”

After they drank their coffee, the girls got ready to go out.

“I still don’t see how we can go in the sun and not burst into flames.” Dawn noted, putting her hair up.
“It’s not a movie, but it does drain us.” Sapphire said with a laugh.

The girls left town to eat lunch at the mall.

Sapphire wanted to get something special for Dawn, so she went to the jewelry store to buy the perfect gift while Dawn was at the bookstore, her favorite place in the mall.

“Are you looking for something special?” The sales clerk questioned, walking over to Sapphire.
“I’m looking for a bracelet for a lady friend of mine. It’s her birthday.”
“We have charm bracelets, tennis bracelets, gold and silver.”
“I was looking for something like a tennis bracelet.”

The clerk showed Sapphire the bracelets and it didn’t take long for her to pick out the perfect one.

“Anything else I can help you with?” The clerk asked, putting the bracelet in a box.
“No, that will be all for now.” Sapphire replied with a smile and handed over her charge card.

Meeting up in front of the bookstore, Sapphire and Dawn decided it was time to leave so they could get back and ready for the party.

While driving, Sapphire turned on the radio and started dancing in her seat.

“You’re such a dork.” Dawn noted, shaking her head.
“Yea, I know, but that’s why you love me.” She replied with a smile.
     “Sometimes I wonder.” Dawn giggled.

When everyone was there, Dawn gave Sapphire her present.

“You didn’t have to get me anything.” Sapphire informed, taking the present.
“It’s your special day, too. Even if you want to celebrate it or not.” Dawn replied with a smile.

Sapphire looked down at the dark red wrapping paper with black ribbon around it. She pulled the bow and unwrapped her gift. It was a journal with a woman vampire on the front dressed in a blue evening gown.

“Thank you, I love it. Now it’s your turn.” Sapphire said, handing Dawn the red velvet box.

When she opened it, Dawn’s jaw dropped when she seen the diamond and garnet tennis bracelet…her two birthstones.

“Oh, Honey, it’s beautiful.” Dawn said and kissed Sapphire.

After the party was over, Sapphire and Dawn talked while they cleaned up.

“Did you have a nice night?” Sapphire asked with a smile.
“Yes I did. Thank you for everything. I just wish you would want to celebrate yourself, too.”
“After all these years, I don’t really see the point in it.”
“I understand that. I love you though.”
     “I love you, too.”

Chapter Two

When classes started back, Roxie took her new kittens to show Dawn and Sapphire.

“They’re so cute.” Dawn said, picking one up.
“They’ll be six weeks old this week. I thought you two would like to have one.” Roxie informed with a smile.
“Oh, can we?” Dawn asked, looking over at Sapphire.
“Pick one.” Sapphire replied with a smile, knowing it would make Dawn happy.

Dawn picked out a gray kitten, but had to get to class, and then left.

“It looks like you and Dawn are getting along well.” Roxie stated, sitting down on the couch.
“Yea we are, but it feels like there’s something missing. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.” Sapphire noted, sitting beside her.
“I think you want to take your relationship to the next level.”
     “What do you mean?”
     “You know….make it official.”
     “You mean, get married?”
“Yea. I saw how you acted at my and Frank’s wedding last month. You have the look.”
     “What look?”
“You know the look. The one where you know you want more out of a relationship.”
“I’ve been thinking about it, but I haven’t brought it up to Dawn.”
“Well, think about it more before you say anything. Make sure it’s what you want to do because it’s one of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make.”

Sapphire knew Roxie was right. She did want to take it to the next level…she wanted to marry Dawn.

After class, Dawn stopped by Claudia’s room.

“Hey, I’m sorry I didn’t get to come over this weekend. How was the party?”
“It was pretty good. Sapphire bought me a bracelet with diamonds and garnet.”
     “Sounds beautiful.”
     “It is.”
“Talking about Sapphire, does she know that we used to be an item?”
“Yes and she’s fine with it.”
     “How are you two doing?”
“Pretty good, I guess. A normal relationship. Why do you ask?”
“I was thinking about how we used to have so much fun. I miss it…I miss us.”
“You know I’m in love with Sapphire.”
“I know, but I’d like to hang out. Just the two of us.”
“Well, I can call and tell her that I’m going to be here for a while.”

Dawn did just that and Sapphire was fine with it.

“It must be great to be a vampire.” Claudia sighed, sitting on the bed.
“It has its advantages and disadvantages.” Dawn replied, sitting beside her.
“Do you remember when you wanted to bite me and I was afraid?”
“Yes and I understood how you felt.”
     “Well, I’m not afraid anymore.”
“You want me to bite you?”
“Yes. I want it more than anything.”
     “Claudia, I…”

Dawn couldn’t finish what she was about to say because Claudia’s lips were pressed against hers.

Instead of pulling away, Dawn went with it, knowing it was wrong, but wanted it and no one was there to stop her.

Struggling from anticipation to get Claudia’s pants undone, but when they were, they went on the floor along with the white cotton panties that were in the way of what she wanted.
Claudia gasped as Dawn entered her with more force than expected. Wanted to scream with pleasure, but kissed Dawn deeply.
Dawns fangs sank into Claudia’s neck as she forced her fingers inside, faster.

After everything was over, Dawn let Claudia put on her clothes.

“That was amazing.” Claudia said, catching her breath.
“I know.” Dawn replied with a smile and walked over to the door.
     “Where are you going?”
“I need to get back home. I’ll see you later.”

Dawn walked out, closing the door behind her, with her mind filled with regret.

When Dawn arrived back home, she went to her bedroom and cried as she started packing because she knew as soon as Sapphire found out, they would be over.

“What’s going on?” Sapphire questioned, walking in.
“I just did something really bad and I know you won’t want me here anymore.”
     “What? What happen?”
     “I slept with Claudia.”

Sapphire just stood there, letting the words sink in, and then walked out, grabbing her coat.

“I’ll be at Roxie’s for a while. You can stay here, but I don’t want to be here right now.” Sapphire stated before shutting the door.

Sapphire walked in to Roxie’s with tears in her eyes.

“What happen?” Roxie asked, walking up to her.
“Dawn slept with Claudia. I’m more hurt than angry. I still want to be with her, and…and…”
“Maybe you should sit down and I’ll get you something to drink.”

The two friends sat down and talked awhile.

“So, you still want to be with her after she did this?”
“I know it sounds crazy, but after a year together and this being her first mistake, she didn’t hide it from me.”
“Well, I applaud her for that, but neither one of you are going to look at each other the same way again.”
“Yea, I know, but I’m still very much in love with her.”
“At least stay the night and calm down some, then I’ll let you go back tomorrow because I don’t want you to say anything that you may regret.”

Sapphire agreed and spent the night on the couch, not being able to sleep.

The next morning, Sapphire went back to the apartment and found Dawn sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee.
“Do you want some coffee?” Dawn questioned, looking at Sapphire.
“Sure. I think we need to talk.”
     “I agree.”

They sat at the table and talked about what had happen.

“I’m not angry with you, I’m just hurt. I’m also glad that you told me. Most people wouldn’t have.”
     “I’m sorry, Sapphire.”
“I know, Honey. Do you want to go back to her?”
“No. I don’t even know why I did it. She kissed me and instead of pulling away, I went with it.”
“I think it’s because we’ve been together for so long and the chance was there. I know we both wish it didn’t happen, but I still want to be with you if you want me.”
     “Yes, I do.”

Sapphire gently kissed Dawn and smiled.

“I was also thinking that you can move into my room.”
     “Really? That’s a big step.”
“Not as big as this one…I’ve been thinking about us and I think we could take our relationship to the next level.”
“Are you asking me what I think you’re asking me?”
“Not yet. I just think we should talk about it some more before we decide on anything.”
     “That sounds good.”
“Well, let’s start moving your stuff into the other room.”

Dawn just smiled and walked to the room to start.

Chapter Three

After a month of talking to Dawn about the next level, Sapphire took Roxie to the mall to help pick out a ring.

“I think this is so great.” Roxie noted with a smile, walking into the jewelry store.
“Now, there’s one in here I’ve been eye-balling, but I want your opinion before I buy it.”
     “Well, I’m here for you.”
They walked over to the counter where the ring was.

“That’s so beautiful.” Roxie said looking at the ring Sapphire was showing her.
“Do you think she’ll like that one?”
“I think she’s going to love it.”

“Are you going to buy this time?” The sales clerk asked, walking over to the girls.
“Yes, I think so.” Sapphire replied with a smile.

The clerk smiled back and took the ring out of the case.

Sapphire had a big smile on her face as she walked out of the store with Roxie.

“So, when are you going to do it?” Roxie questioned, continuing to walk.
     “Valentine’s Day.”
     “That’s this weekend.”
“Yea, I know. I have everything planned out; I just had to get the ring.”
“So, where are you going to get married seeing that you can’t here?”
“I’m not sure yet, but I want you to be there.”
“You bet. Just let me know when and where.”

Sapphire and Roxie walked into the apartment and sat on the couch to relax.

“Did you guys have fun?” Dawn asked, walking out of the bedroom.
“Yea, just tired.” Sapphire relied with a smile.
“Well, I’m going to get out of here. I’m supposed to meet Frank for dinner after he gets off work.” Roxie informed and left.

Dawn walked over and sat beside Sapphire.

“Sorry I wasn’t able to go, but you two need some friend time, too.”
“It’s okay. You had to catch up on your school work anyway.”
“Yea, I just finished not too long ago.”
“That’s good. Well, it’s getting late. Do you want to go to bed?”
“That sounds really good. I’m so tired and I’m sure you are, too.”

The girls went to bed, but before Dawn came out of the bathroom, Sapphire hid the ring in the dresser where she knew Dawn wouldn’t be able to find it.

Chapter Four

On Valentine’s Day, Sapphire and Dawn went on a double dinner date with Roxie and Frank.

“What did you get from Frank?” Sapphire questioned, sitting down at a booth in the diner.
“He gave me roses, a card and now this dinner.” Roxie replied with a smile and looked over at Dawn.
“Sapphire gave me calla lilies and a card so far. I don’t know what else she’s going to do after dinner, but she told me that she has a surprise for me.” Dawn said, smiling.

Sapphire and Roxie smiled at each other, and then ordered dinner.

After the relaxing dinner, Sapphire took Dawn to the lake to watch the sunset.

While the colors of red and orange filled the sky and the sound of water splashing up on the bank, they walked hand in hand by the shore, reminiscing about the first day they met.

They looked at each other, as the moon and water sparkled in their eyes, then Sapphire led Dawn to a big rock.

While looking at the faint stars in the sky, Sapphire reached in her pocket.

“There is one last gift I need to give you.” Sapphire noted.

Dawn opened the box to find a rind with three diamonds.

“I’m not a man, so I’m not going to get down on my knee, but I love you with all my heart. Will you be my wife?” Sapphire waited for the answer, knowing it will be yes by the look on Dawn’s face.

Chapter Five

Another two weeks went by and they were on Spring Break, so Sapphire and Dawn went to Dawn’s parents’ house for the week.

“There are my girls.” Dawn’s mother exclaimed as Dawn and Sapphire walked into the house.
“Hi, Mom.” The girls said in unison.

     “I can’t believe you’re engaged. I don’t think I’ve been happier.” Dawn’s father said with a smile.

Sapphire just smiled and walked their bags to the bedroom while Dawn showed her mother the ring.

     “Is it real?”
“Yes it is.” Sapphire replied, walking back into the living room.
“That had to cost a fortune.”

Sapphire just smiled and sat down on the couch by Dawn.

“What do you do for a living?” Dawn’s mother asked, sitting in her rocking chair.
     “I’m a writer.”
“That sounds interesting. I bed your parents are proud of you.”
“I’m sure they would be. I lost them a long time ago.”
     “Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s all right. I miss them sometimes and wish they were here, but I manage.”
     “How long ago was it?”
     “Mother, don’t pry.” Dawn interrupted.
“It’s okay. I was six when they passed and lived with my brother until I turned seventeen and found a place of my own.”
“So, you’ve been on your own for six years?” Dawn’s mother asked.
“It feels a lot longer because my brother traveled for work.”
“Okay, enough chit chat. Let’s eat dinner before the burgers get cold.” Dawn’s father said, coming in from the back porch where he was grilling.
“Well, just let me say…welcome to the family.” Dawn’s mother noted, standing up.
“Thanks, Mom.” Sapphire said with a smile.

After dinner, Sapphire and Dawn went out on the porch to rest.

     “Was all that true?”
“Yes it was and I really do miss my family.”
“Is your brother a vampire, too?”
“No, I wish he was though.”
“I hope I’m not interrupting.” Dawn’s mother said, walking out onto the porch.
“No, go ahead, Mom.” Dawn replied with a smile.
“Your father and I were wondering if you two would like to have your wedding here in the backyard.”
“That would be great, but it’s going to be hard finding someone to marry us.” Dawn informed.
“I’ve asked your uncle and he said he would.”
“That sounds great. What do you think, Dawn?” Sapphire questioned, looking over at her.
“I agree, but we haven’t set a date yet.”
“You have plenty of time for that. Just enjoy being together.” Dawn’s mother noted and walked back inside.

Chapter Six

When they arrived back home, it was late, so they decided to stay in for the rest of the warm, Saturday night.

“What about this summer? We can get married before I have to come back to school for my last semester.” Dawn suggested, sitting on the couch.
“That sounds like a good idea.”

Sapphire and Dawn started planning their wedding and lost track of time…daylight was outside the window.

“I think we should get some sleep and we’ll work on this later.” Sapphire said with a yawn.

When Sapphire awoke, Dawn was on the porch with Claudia.

“We’re not supposed to be alone together. Sapphire is still asleep.” Dawn informed, walking out on the porch.
“I know, but I really think I should apologize to her. You and I haven’t hung out since what happen. It’s been almost two months. I miss you.”
“Well, the only way we can is with Sapphire and we’ve been busy.”
     “I know, school and work.”
“Not only that. We’ve been planning our wedding.”
     “What? You’re engaged to her?”
“I have been since Valentine’s Day.”
     “I can’t believe you didn’t call me.”
“Maybe she didn’t want you to know.” Sapphire noted, opening the door.
“Sapphire, she came over to apologize to you.” Dawn said, stepping back.
“Kind of late for that don’t you think?” Sapphire asked, crossing her arms.
“You don’t have to be a bitch.” Claudia informed.
“Considering the circumstances, I think I have the right to be.”
“I just wanted to come over and tell you that I’m sorry for what happen. I’ll go ahead and leave.” Claudia said and walked away.

     “I’m sorry.” Dawn apologized.
“Don’t be. I know it wasn’t your idea for her to come over here.”
     “She’s my friend.”
“A real friend wouldn’t have done what she did.”

Chapter Seven

It was finally summer and the girls were in the pool when Roxie came.

“Well, someone; belly is showing.” Sapphire noted with a smile.
     “Yea, I love being pregnant.”
“How far along are you now?” Dawn asked, swimming over to the side.
     “Four months.”
“It must be great being pregnant.”
“Why don’t one of you get pregnant?”

Dawn and Sapphire looked at each other and laughed.

“I’m serious. It’s a great experience.” Roxie said, sitting on the back porch by the pool.
“Maybe one day. Never really thought about it.” Dawn noted with a smile.
“So, two more months until your wedding. Are you excited?”
“Well, I am. I don’t really know about Sapphire. She doesn’t talk about it much.”
“Yea, she’s definitely the man in your relationship.”
“If you want to see it that way, then I guess so.”
     “What do you mean?”
“Well, it’s not really a gender ordeal in my and her relationship. We are two women together. Not a man and a woman. Neither one of us is like a man.”
     “Okay, sorry.”
“It’s okay. A lot of people see it the way you do and I just go with it.”
“So being pregnant, are you going to be able to make it to the wedding?” Sapphire questioned, stepping out of the pool and dried off.
“It’s not that far away and I think I can manage.”

A couple months later, everyone headed to Dawn’s parents’ house for the wedding.

“How is everyone?” Dawn’s mother asked, standing up from her chair.
“We’re doing well.” Dawn replied with a smile.

Dawn’s mother smiled back and helped bring in the bags.

“Where is everyone?” Dawn questioned, walking into her old bedroom while everyone else was helping Roxie.
“They won’t be here until tomorrow.”

At dinner, Sapphire decided to make an announcement.

“Dawn and I have been thinking about something for a couple months, but haven’t decided on anything final, yet.”

Dawn stood up beside Sapphire and smiled, holding her hand.

“We’re going to adopt a baby after we’re married.” Sapphire continued.
“I think that’s great. I would love to be a grandmother.” Dawn’s mother replied with a smile.
“Now, it’s nothing final, like she said.” Dawn informed, sitting back down.

On the wedding day, Dawn went to town with her mother all day while Roxie helped Sapphire get ready.
     “Are you nervous?”
“Not really. I really want this and I love Dawn so much.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were thinking about adopting?”
     “Because it’s nothing final.”
“Instead of adopting, have you thought about getting pregnant or even a sergeant mother?”
“We haven’t gone through all the options, but we have some time to do that.”
     “You look so beautiful.”
“Thank you for being here for me. It means a lot...”

It was time…Sapphire stood by the pastor in her skirt suit, waiting for her goddess to walk to her.

When Dawn walked out, everyone stood up.

Sapphire smiled as Dawn made her way down the aisle with her white summer dress blowing in the breeze.

     She truly loved her.

Chapter Eight

A few weeks after the honeymoon, Sapphire and Dawn took a drive to the adoption center at the bottom of the state.

“Are you sure you want to do this? We can turn around.” Sapphire asked, pulling off to a gas station.
“What other options do we have, again?”

Sapphire went through the options with Dawn, but still decided to go on.

When they arrived, all the children were outside playing at the playground.

“They’re all so big, I wonder if they have any younger.” Dawn said, getting out of the car.
“I don’t know. Let’s go and see what’s going on.”

When they approached the counter inside, Sapphire and Dawn signed in and they were taken to see the children while they waited for someone to talk to them about adoption.

When they were called into the office, they were very nervous.

“We usually don’t let coupled adopt children until they’re a little older, but after talking to you on the phone, I think we can work something out. We don’t have any children under the age of five, would you be okay with that age range?” The adoption lady asked, looking up from her paperwork.

     The girls nodded.

“Only thing you need to do is fill out some forms and sign some papers.”
“How long will it take to bring the child home?” Sapphire questioned, shifting her weight in her chair.
“The paperwork will be done in about a week. Enough time for you to prepare your home for the incoming child. Shall we get started?”
“Yes.” Dawn replied with a smile.

After the paperwork was done, they chose a child and went home to make the announcement.

“Roxie, Dawn and I have something to tell you. Will you and Frank come over?”

When they arrived, they all sat in the living room.

“We have called Dawn’s parents and told them already, but we wanted to tell you two in person. Seeing that you made us your baby’s God-parents, I thought we should tell you that we’re adopting a child.” Sapphire announced with a smile.
“That’s great.” Roxie replied, smiling back.
“We pick him up in a week. His name is Brandon and he’s six years old.”
“That’s a little old for you two.”
“They didn’t have any children under the age of five. We want this so much, so we decided that the age was fine with us.”
“Well, then, I’m happy for you both.”

Chapter Nine

A week later, Sapphire and Dawn went back to the adoption center and picked up Brandon.

“I hope you like your room. We decorated it and it has a lot of toys to play with.” Dawn said with a smile, putting Brandon in the car.

When they arrived home, Dawn led Brandon to his new room and he automatically ran to his bed and sat down.

     “Do you like it?”
     “Yes.”
“Dinner will be done soon. You can play in here until it’s ready.”

Brandon jumped off of his bed and went to the toy chest in the corner, pulling out toys to play with. Dawn smiled and walked into the kitchen.

At dinner, Roxie and Frank joined them.

“Brandon, these are our friends, Roxie and Frank.” Dawn introduced with a smile.
“Hi.” Brandon said quietly and sat down at the table.
“He’s a little shy, but I think we can have a lot of fun together.”

Roxie smiled and took a seat at the table.

“When are you going to have your baby?” Brandon questioned, looking at Roxie.
“I have a little bit to go still.”
     “What are you having?”
“A boy. His name is going to be James.”

Brandon smiled and looked at the food on his plate.

“Is there something wrong?” Sapphire asked, running her hand though Brandon’s blonde hair.
“We said grace at the center.”
After dinner, Dawn gave Brandon a bath and put him to bed while Sapphire sat and talked with Roxie.

“He’s so handsome.” Sapphire said with a smile.
“Yes he is. I love his blonde hair.”
     “I do, too.”
“Have you thought about getting a child who’s younger sometime down the road?”
“We don’t know, yet. We’re going to see how we do with Brandon and then decide.”

Roxie just smiled and put her hand on her belly.

“I can’t wait until James is here.”

Chapter Ten

A few months went by and it was Brandon’s seventh birthday. Sapphire took him shopping for a cake while Dawn stayed home and decorated for the party.

“I know it’s early to come over for the party, but can you and Frank come over and decorate for me? I have to go somewhere.” Dawn asked Roxie on the phone.
     “Sure. Is everything all right?”
“Yea, I just need to go help a friend real quick.”

Dawn went to Claudia’s house. She had been talking to her for a while, but still wasn’t supposed to be alone with her.

“Are you okay? I had to wait until Sapphire was gone before I could leave.” Dawn asked, walking into the house.
“My water broke. I didn’t know who else to call after he left me.”
“Okay, let’s get you in the car and I’ll call Sapphire from the hospital.”
“You can’t. You’ll get in trouble for being with me.”
“It’s my little boy’s birthday. I have to call her.”

When they arrived at the hospital and Claudia was in the room, Dawn called Sapphire.

“I know I’m not supposed to be with Claudia without you, but she called after you left and she’s in labor. I’m at the hospital with her right now.”
“I’ll be right there. Let me drop Brandon off at Roxie’s.”
“She’s at the apartment. I called her to help decorate for the party.”

When Sapphire arrived at the hospital, Dawn was sitting in the waiting room with Claudia’s mother.

“Is everything all right?” Sapphire questioned, rushing in.
“The baby is fine…a girl named Katherine Dawn.”

     “What about Claudia?”

Dawn looked over at Claudia’s mother.

“She didn’t make it through the delivery.” Claudia’s mother noted.

Dawn teared up, stood up and walked over to Sapphire.

“She told me, before she gave birth, that she wanted us to take the baby because she knew we’ve wanted a baby. She knew she wasn’t going to make it through the birth. The doctors told her that it would kill her if she ever had children.”

They took the baby home the next day.

While putting Katherine in the crib, Dawn looked over at Sapphire with a smile and gently kissed her lips.

     “I love you.”
     “I love you, too.”
