PROLOUGE
Andrea and
Elijah, from Ohio, had been friends for three years, but their friends think
they look like "the perfect couple" and try to "hook them
up" on a road trip to West Virginia. Will it work out or will it blow
over?
Eden pulled
Andrea aside in the school’s English hallway and asked her to go on a camping
trip a week out of her summer vacation.
"Who
else is going?" Andrea asked, looking at her watch.
"Elijah
and Adam." She replied with a smile.
"Your
boyfriend and my best guy friend?" Andrea questioned with a puzzled look
on her face.
"Well,
you don’t have a boyfriend or I would have invited him." She informed
almost jokingly.
"Okay,
I’ll go." Andrea said and started walking.
"Good.
I’ll pick you up on Monday." She replied with a smile.
"The
first week of summer vacation?" Andrea asked, stopping in the middle of
the crowded hallway.
"Yes."
She noted, almost running into her.
"Um,
okay." Andrea hesitated and went down the hard, cement staircase to her
car.
"Do you
want a ride home?" Andrea questioned, opening her car door.
"No,
Adam’s taking me home." Eden replied with a smile, stepped back and let
Andrea pull out of her parking space.
"I’ll
see you Monday then." Andrea said with a smile and left.
Monday
Afternoon…
Eden picked
Andrea up and tool her to Elijah’s house where everyone was meeting because he
had a red, quad cab, Chevy truck with a camper top on the bed.
"Hey,
Elijah." Andrea greeted with a smile, seeing him out at his truck.
"Hey,
I’m glad you’re going with us. I didn’t want to be the third wheel." He
replied, smiling back.
"Yea, I
know what you mean." She said, rolling her eyes, and then Adam pulled in
and got out of his car.
"Hey,
Baby." Eden said, hugging him.
"Hey,
Eden." He replied and unloaded his car into Elijah’s truck.
When
everything was in Elijah’s truck, they all jumped in and headed down toward
West Virginia for a week of camping on the Boy Scout Camp Road.
Four Hours
Later…
When they
arrived at the campsite, they set up their tents by the river.
"I’m a
little hungry and it’s getting dark." Eden informed, sitting on the river
bank.
"Well,
let’s build a fire." Elijah suggested, making Adam help him.
As soon as
the fire was built, they roasted marshmallows and hotdogs to satisfy their
hunger.
"It’s getting
late…I’m going to the tent." Andrea said, standing up.
"Can I
talk to you before you go to sleep?" Elijah questioned, walking over to
her.
"Sure."
She agreed and unzipped her tent.
"Do you
think this is some kind of setup for us to start liking each other more?"
He asked with a smile, lying down on Eden’s sleeping bag.
"If it
was, your stuff would be in here, not hers." She noted, smiling back.
"Why
don’t we pretend to start liking each other to make them happy." he
suggested, sitting up.
"That’s
a good idea." She said with an evil smile.
"Okay…I’ll
go to sleep in here." He whispered, put his arm around her and lied down.
When Eden
opened the tent, she saw them sleeping together, so she just slept with Adam
instead.
"They’re
sleeping together." Eden informed with a smile.
"Really?"
Adam asked with wide eyes.
"Yea,
he has his arm around her, too." She replied, walking to Adam’s tent.
"I
guess it’s working." He said and went into his tent.
"This
is so awesome." She exclaimed and lied down with Adam to go to sleep.
The next
morning, Andrea and Elijah went swimming and pretended to flirt with each other
as planned.
"Andrea,
may I talk to you?" Eden questioned, standing on the edge of the river.
"I’m
having fun, can we talk later?" Andrea asked, not talking her eyes off of
Elijah.
"I
guess so." She replied and walked back to Adam to help him cook breakfast.
When
breakfast was ready, Andrea and Elijah put towels around themselves and ate.
"May I
talk to you now?" Eden questioned, finishing her breakfast.
"Sure."
Andrea replied with a smile and followed Eden into the woods.
"What
is up with you and Elijah." Eden asked, leaning against a tree.
"What
do you mean?" Andrea questioned, pulling leaves off of a nearby tree.
"Flirting
and hanging all over him." She explained with a puzzled look on her face.
"Oh,
that. Can I not do that?" Andrea asked with a smile.
"Yea,
but you never done it before." She replied, walking over to her.
"Well,
he and I decided to be a little more than friends." Andrea noted with a
big smile on her face.
"Dating?"
She questioned, getting really excited.
"No,
close friends." Andrea replied with a giggle.
"Oh,
okay. Well, I’ll move my stuff and you can share a tent with him." She
suggested, looking at Andrea’s flushed face.
"Okay."
Andrea agreed and walked back to the campsite to find Elijah.
As soon as
she found him, Andrea took him into the river to talk to him.
"This
is so awesome. Eden is totally confused." Andrea exclaimed, relaxing in
the water.
"Well,
if she thinks it will work and it actually does work, she would be
confused." Elijah chuckled, putting his arms around her.
"Mmm…I
love your touch." She mumble, closing her eyes.
"What?"
He asked, looking at her beautiful body.
"Nothing."
She denied with a sweet smile.
"Do you
actually like me?" He questioned with a puzzled look on his face.
"No, I
just like your touch on my skin." She replied and went to shore.
"Okay."
He said, following her.
At the end
of the week, Andrea started to actually like Elijah.
"Eden,
I need to talk to you." Andrea exclaimed, pulling her aside.
"What
is it?" She asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"I
think I’m falling for him." Andrea noted with wide eyes.
"That’s
great!" She exclaimed and hugged her.
"He’s
my best friend, I can’t do this." Andrea said with tears in her eyes.
"Aw,
Andrea. Don’t worry about it. Just talk to him about how you feel." She
suggested, hugging her, again.
"What
if he laughs or gets angry with me?" Andrea questioned, pulling away.
"Have
faith in yourself and talk to him." She said with a smile, and then looked
over to Elijah.
"Okay."
Andrea agreed and walked over to Elijah.
"Elijah,
may I talk to you, alone?" Andrea asked, wiping her tears away.
"Yea,
are you okay?" He questioned, wanting to pull her close to comfort her.
"I
really need to talk to you." She said, taking him by the hand and lead him
into the woods.
"Okay,
I’m listening." He informed, sitting on a rock.
"Elijah…I
think…I think." She hesitated, looking down at her shoes.
"You
think what?" He asked, standing up and took her hands in his.
"I
think I’m falling in love with you." She whispered and started to cry.
He took her
in his arms and held her for a while until he was ready to talk.
"I
think I’m falling in love with you, too." He whispered, looking into her
eyes and smiled.
"Hold
me." She suggested, starting to cry once again, but he just stood there,
looking into her weepy eyes.
He slowly
leaned forward, his lips getting closer and closer to hers. She looked into his
eyes, and then felt his lips press against hers.
Andrea was
stunned, but then she took his face in her hands and started to passionately
kiss him.
